Citizenship

| Info | The Base Citizenship programme provides a flexible pre-vocational programme for vulnerable young people aged 16-18 yrs who require a high level of initial support to re-engage with learning, due to their significant social needs. The provision which aims to develop self-esteem, confidence and motivation, is informed on the basis of learner needs – social and learning – and learner interests. The in-centre learning programme is delivered through small groups by qualified trainers in ICT, Basic Skills, Creative Arts & Photography. E2E provision further includes a programme of Preparatory Training, developing employability skills, securing bite-size work tasters, visiting other providers and offering short accredited courses. Developing skills and knowledge for work is equally balanced with developing a range of life skills. Our programme includes health and social educational sessions around citizenship – rights & responsibilities; health education – sexual health, drugs & alcohol use, healthy living; housing & independent living skills; focussed single sex issue-based groupwork; sports events and fitness sessions, with a range of other outdoor and adventure activities which young people are involved in planning. |
